Do I need to create an account to use TedsList.com™?
No. If you do have an account, you can post ads more quickly, manage your ads, and you can save your favorite ads to review them later. But you can post a free ad whether you have an account with TedsList.com™ or not.
How do I get a FREE TedsList.com™ account?
On the Home Page, click the 'FREE Account' button and follow the directions. Click 'Done' and you will receive an email from TedsList.com™ to activate your free account.

  1. Enter your Email Address in the first box.
  2. Type in the Password of your choice in the second box.
  3. Re-type the same password in the third box to confirm.
  4. Read and agree to the TedsList.com™ 'Terms of Use' by checking the box beside them.
  5. Click the 'Done' button to create your account.
  6. An email will be sent from TedsList.com™ to the Email Address you provided containing a link to activate your account; click this link to finish the account activation process.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
If you have a TedsList.com™ account, click the 'Sign In' link at the top right corner of the Home Page. Click the 'Forgot Password' link. Type your Email Address in the box and click the 'Send Password' button to finish. Your password will be emailed to the Email Address you provide.
How do I change my Email Address?
Sign into your account on the Home Page. Click the 'My Account' button and follow the instructions under the 'Change Email Address' tab.

How do I change my search or selling location?
If you are just browsing: At the top of the Home Page next to the flag icon, click the 'Change' link located after your city. Choose 'United States or 'Canada' and enter the State and City you would like to browse, OR enter a zip or postal code and click 'Go'.

If you are posting an ad: 'Step 2' of the ad process allows you to post your ad in whichever location you choose by entering a zip or postal code, or selecting your city and state from a list.

When logged in to your account: Click the 'My Account' button, then change your location in the 'My Location' tab.
How do I DELETE my account?
NOTE: IF YOU DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT, ALL ADS AND INFORMATION ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE REMOVED. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN FOR ANY PREMIUM FEATURES.

What are the rules for posting an ad on TedsList.com™?
Do not use profanity or post photos or video with nudity or objectionable images. Follow additional 'Listing Guidelines' here. TedsList.com™ users will typically flag ads that are spam, inappropriate, miscategorized, prohibited, or are otherwise offensive and they will be removed.
How do I post an ad if I have an account?
Click the big 'Post a FREE Ad' button at the top right corner of the Home Page and follow the instructions. If you use the same Email Address you sign in with, the listing will be saved to your account. OR, click the 'Sign In' link at the top right corner of the Home Page and follow the instructions. Once you have successfully signed in, click the big 'Post a Free Ad' button at the top right corner of the Home Page OR select the category and subcategory of your choice in the 'Sell Stuff' box at the top of the page to begin using the Ad Wizard and follow the instructions. How do I post in the 'Barter/Trade', 'Free Stuff' or 'Stuff Wanted' Categories?
When posting an ad, choose 'Items Wanted', 'Will Barter/Trade', 'Free' or 'Please Contact' from the price options in Step 3. Your ad will then be listed in your chosen category.
How do I upload a photo from my PC to include in my ad?
During Step 5 of the posting process, click 'Browse' to select a photo from the file location on your PC. If you do not have a photo for your ad, click 'Skip This Step' or 'Continue' to finish posting your ad. You may post an unlimited amount of photos with a file size of up to 2MB each.
How do I add a photo from a photo hosting service to my ad?
Copy the direct link for your PhotoBucket, Flickr or TwitPic photo and paste the link into the 'Photo from URL' box on TedsList.com™. Then click the 'Upload' button and your photo will then be included in your ad. Additional instructions on how to reposition the order of your photos, delete a photo, or designate a main photo are included on this page.
How do I add a video from YouTube to my ad?
Copy the direct link for your video from YouTube and paste the link in the 'YouTube Video' box on TedsList.com™. Click the 'Upload' button and your video will then be included with your listing.
Is YouTube the only video hosting service that I can use in my ad?
Yes, at this time TedsList.com™ only supports YouTube videos.
How long will my ad stay active?
Your ad will remain active for 120 days or until you delete it. If you purchased a Premium Features upgrade, the Premium Features are active for 30 days, but the ad will continue to run for 120 days. Once your ad expires, you have the option to re-activate it for free, which will run the ad for another 120 days.

In some instances, your ad may be 'Flagged' and removed if it is offensive or violates our Listing Guidelines.
Why can't I find my ad?
  • Sometimes it takes a few minutes for a new ad to be listed on TedsList.com™. If you don't see an ad you just posted, please wait a few minutes.
  • Your ad may have been flagged as 'Spam', 'Inappropriate, 'Miscategorized', 'Prohibited', 'Mismatched Pic' or 'Other' by our users and removed. You will be notified by email if this is the case.
  • You may have deleted the ad. To recover a deleted ad, click the 'My Ads' button, then choose the 'Deleted Ads' tab and click the 'Re-Activate for Free' link of the ad you wish to recover.
  • Your ad may have expired after reaching the 120 day listing limit.
  • Your ad may have violated the TedsList.com™ User Agreement or Listing Guidelines and been removed by Customer Service. You will be notified by email if this is the case.
How do I make changes to my ad?
If you have an account: Click the 'Sign In' link at the top right corner of the Home Page and click the 'My Ads' button on the top tool bar. On the right-hand side of the ad, click the 'Edit' link and follow the instructions to change your ad information.

How do I delete my ad?
If you have an account: Click the 'Sign In' link at the top right corner of the Home Page and click the 'My Ads' button on the top tool bar. On the right-hand side of the ad you want to delete, click the 'Delete' link to remove the listing.

If I lost the email link to my listing, what can I do?
If you are not logged in, click on the 'My Ads' button at the top right corner of the Home Page and click 'Use a link to Manage your ads'. Follow the directions and you will receive an email containing a link to any ad(s) that you posted using the Email Address you provided. If you are logged in, you can view your listings by clicking the 'My Ads' button.

How do I Flag an ad (complain about or report an ad) that is offensive, libelous, infringes on a copyright or violates intellectual property?
While viewing the offending ad, click 'Flag Ad' in the lower right corner and choose the appropriate option: 'Spam', 'Inappropriate', 'Miscategorized', 'Prohibited', 'Mismatched Pic' or 'Other'. You'll have a chance to provide additional information about the offense. If an ad presents imminent danger to someone or something, call 911 and Flag the ad.
How do I reply to an ad?
While viewing the ad, click the 'Reply to Ad' button beneath the title of the ad. Type your email address and message and click the 'Send Reply' button. Your message will be emailed to the poster and will not be made public. Your Email Address will be visible to the original poster only, so that they are able to respond to your reply.
How do I complete a transaction on TedsList.com™?
TedsList.com™ is designed to help you complete local transactions. Conducting transactions locally helps you avoid possible fraud. If you are buying or selling a product, money should be exchanged only after the item has been inspected. If you decide to meet face-to-face with a buyer or seller, consider taking a friend with you, always let someone know where you are going and take a cell phone. Use extreme caution when accepting payment through the mail. Be aware that fake checks, money orders and cashier's checks do exist. Be extremely cautious dealing with any buyer or seller who is outside of the country, as most often these types of interactions these are scams. TedsList.com™ is not responsible for the result of any of these interactions.
How do I customize the search results?
In the 'Find Stuff' box at the top of the page, choose a category from the drop down menu and type in the item you are looking for. Click the 'Search' button or, optionally, choose a category from the lists on the Home Page. By default, you will see results within a 50 mile radius, sorted by newest first. You can change the way the results are displayed by clicking on 'List', 'Gallery' or 'NoPics' in the Search Results Toolbar. There are three additional menus in the Toolbar to further customize your results:

Display Number Menu: Choose the number of items you wish to display per page (10, 25 or 50)
Search Radius Menu: Choose the radius that you would like to search (5 to 500 miles from your city)
Sort Order Menu: Choose from the following features to sort by: Newest First, Oldest First, Closest First, Price Low to High, Price High to Low, Title (A-Z) or Title (Z-A)

Just below the Search Results Toolbar, you can change your search location by clicking the 'Change' link, or change the category by clicking the 'Category' link. For advanced search options, click the 'Advanced Search - click here' link.
How do I print an ad?
To print an individual ad: On the right-hand side of the ad next to the ad title, click the printer icon or use your browser's print function.

To print a list of search results: On the right-hand side of the Search Results Toolbar, click the printer icon or use your browser's print function.
How do I stop or change my Email Notifications?
You must have an account with TedsList.com™ to change your Email Notifications. To choose or change Email Notifications, click the 'Sign In' link at the top right corner of the Home Page and click the 'My Account' button at the top left. Click the 'Edit Email/Text Notifications' tab and choose the types of Email Notifications you would like to receive. Click the 'Update Account' button to submit the changes.
How do I suggest a new city for TedsList.com™?
Click the 'Leave Feedback' button at the top right or bottom right corner of the page. Suggest a new City (including the Zip or Postal code) in the 'Comments' box and click 'Send' to submit.

Premium Features
How much more visibility will my ad receive?
'Premium Features' are designed to increase the visibility of your ad. Approximately eight times the number of people will see your ad compared to listings without Premium Features. In the most popular categories, your ad can receive as much as 20 times the visibility.
How do I buy 'Premium Features' for an ad?
You can buy 'Premium Features' after the last step of the posting process, which confirms that your ad has been published on TedsList.com™. Just choose the Premium Features you want, use our simple payment system and we'll send you an email confirmation. It's easy!

  1. Click 'Buy Now' on the 'Premium Features' package you would like to purchase. You will then be taken to the payment page which allows you to review the features you selected before you buy them.
  2. Enter your credit card payment information and choose any value-added options (if applicable).
  3. Once the transaction is complete, you will receive an email confirmation with the details of your 'Premium Features' ad.
  4. You can also add 'Premium Features' to an existing ad by signing in to your account. While signed in, click the 'My Ads' button, then click the 'Promote My Ad' button for each listing you would like to promote.
How do 'Featured Listings' work?
TedsList.com™ 'Featured Listings' shown at the top of search results are selected randomly from all applicable in that location. This process is done randomly so that all promoted ads will have an equal chance to appear. Because selection is randomized, it is possible that a 'Premium Feature' ad may not always display in the 'Featured Listings' section at the moment you view the site.
What are 'Premium Features' and how long does an ad run?
There are six types of 'Premium Features':
  • Highlight Ad - Highlights your Ad in yellow so that it stands out from the others. This feature will remain active for 30 days. Your ad will continue to run without 'Premium Features' after the initial 30 days for a total of 120 days.
  • Re-Post - Allows you to re-post the Ad once a day, moving it to the top of the search results. This feature will remain active for 30 days. Your ad will continue to run without 'Premium Features' after the initial 30 days for a total of 120 days.
  • Spotlight Ad - Displays your Ad at the top of the TedsList.com™ homepage under 'Spotlight Ads'. Other users will be able to click on your Ad from the home page rather than having to view all the other Ads that will also be displayed in the search results for your Ad's category. This feature will remain active for 30 days.Your ad will continue to run without 'Premium Features' after the initial 30 days for a total of 120 days.
  • Featured Listing - Features your Ad in a scrolling section at the top of the search results category your Ad will be posted in. Other users will be able to click on your Ad from this area rather than having to view all the other Ads that will also be displayed in your Ad's category. This feature will remain active for 30 days. Your ad will continue to run without 'Premium Features' after the initial 30 days for a total of 120 days.
  • Urgent Stamp - Emphasizes your Ad with a red 'URGENT' stamp next to it to indicate that the item needs attention quickly. This feature will remain active for 30 days. Your ad will continue to run without 'Premium Features' after the initial 30 days for a total of 120 days.
  • Add Links - This will allow you to include your web site address with your other Ad information for other users to click on. This feature will remain active for as long as your ad is active up to 120 days.
In some instances, your ad may be 'Flagged' and removed if it is offensive or violates our Listing Guidelines. In this case, no refunds will be given for 'Premium Features' purchases.
How long will my ad appear in the TedsList.com™ Home Page Spotlight?
Your ad will be featured in the TedsList.com™ Home Page Spotlight for 30 days. Because selection is randomized, it is possible your ad may not always show up on the Home Page Spotlight at the moment you view the site.
How long will my ad appear in the TedsList.com™ Featured Listings?
Your ad will be featured in the Featured Listings for 30 days. Ad 'Re-Posts' from will also be featured at the top of their categories for 30 days. Because selection is randomized, it is possible your ad may not always show up at the very top of the search results every time.
What if I don't see my ad in the 'Featured Listings'?
  • Verify you received an email confirming your 'Premium Features' purchase.
  • Note the start and end dates for your 'Premium Features' Ad. 'Premium Features' run for 30 consecutive days, even if you put your ad 'On Hold'. (We suggest that you do not place your ad 'On Hold' during those 30 days.)
  • Your ad is in “rotation” with others in the same category and location so it may not always be shown at the moment you view the site. Generally, on any given day there will not be more than 18 ads in “rotation” in a category in a given city, so your ad will be shown approximately once every three times the page is viewed for 'Featured Listings'.

  • After you buy a 'Premium Features' Ad, TedsList.com™ will send you an email confirmation with details of your purchase.
  • If for some reason, whether technical or of any other nature, your Featured Listings ad is not shown in the 'Featured Listings' area, our responsibility is limited only to adding the listing as soon as we are able to.
  • All data collected with this service is governed by our Privacy Policy.
  • Ads which are offensive, pornographic, spam (duplicate listings), potential scams or infringe upon copyrights will be deleted from TedsList.com™ and no refunds will be given.

What features do I have to pay for on TedsList.com™?
Anyone can post an ad for free. If you would like to add 'Premium Features' to increase the visibility of your listing, you will have a chance to add 'Premium Features' during the creation of a new ad. If you would like to add 'Premium Features' to an existing ad, click the 'Sign In' link at the top right corner of the Home Page and click the 'My Ads' button. Click the 'Get Your Ad Seen!' button for each ad you would like to promote with 'Premium Features'.
How do I pay for my 'Premium Features' Ad?
TedsList.com™ accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express credit cards.
Are 'Premium Features' Fees Refundable?
All fees for 'Premium Features' are earned in full and not refundable. If you delete your ad or end your ad early because the item sells, fees and portions of fees are still not refundable. If you purchase a 'Premium Features' ad and then place your ad on hold, all fees are earned in full and not refundable.


Technical
Why haven't I received a confirmation email?
Check your 'junk' or 'spam' email folder. Be sure to add TedsList.com™ as a trusted email source. If the problem persists, contact Customer Support.
Can I use HTML code in my ad?
No. Currently, our site does not accept HTML tags. Any content within HTML tags will be removed from a TedsList.com™ listing. However, if you would like to post a link to your website within your ad, you can purchase the ability as a Premium Feature.

What are some examples of scams I should avoid?
TedsList.com™ is designed to help you buy/sell/trade with your local community. Frauds and scams are possible. Be leery of ANY sort of foreign-involved payment or shipping, pre-payment on items with a money order, pre-payment where the buyer or seller offers a partial refund, or any transaction where a buyer or seller wants you to move money around from place to place, use a "shipping agent", provides unusual or confusing payment directions or strange shipping requirements. How do I report spam within a listing?
While viewing the offending ad, click 'Flag Ad' in the lower right corner and choose 'Spam' from the menu options. You'll have a chance to provide additional information about the offense.
